About The Journal

Why JCRET?

The name Journal of Christian Religious Education and Theology (JCRET) was chosen to reflect the essence of theology and Christian religious education, which is rooted in the truth of God’s Word and relevant to the challenges of our time.

Christian religious education is not merely about knowledge transfer but a process of shaping faith, character, and spirituality based on divine truth. The Bible emphasizes the importance of education and the teaching of God's Word:

  1. Education as a Divine Mandate – In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, God commands His people to teach His words diligently to their children in every aspect of life. This highlights that Christian religious education is not only the responsibility of the church but also a divine calling for every generation.

  2. Transformation Through Education – The Apostle Paul, in Romans 12:2, emphasizes the importance of renewing the mind through proper education. JCRET serves as an academic platform that accommodates research aimed at fostering critical, reflective, and transformative theological thought.

  3. Christian Education in a Contemporary Context – In the era of digitalization and globalization, the challenges of Christian religious education have become increasingly complex. As stated in Matthew 5:14-16, the church and Christian educational institutions are called to be the light of the world, providing relevant insights into today’s challenges while remaining faithful to biblical truth.

  4. Theology that Instructs and Guides2 Timothy 3:16-17 affirms that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Therefore, every article published in JCRET is expected not only to enrich academic discourse but also to serve as a guide for churches, schools, and Christian communities in fulfilling their mission.

Through the Journal of Christian Religious Education and Theology (JCRET), we hope that each published work will contribute to the advancement of high-quality Christian education, strengthen biblical theological understanding, and make a meaningful impact on the church and society. As written in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
